PROS

Quick scans: CloneSpy completes computer scans quickly, so you don’t have to worry about having your machine tied up for any length of time. Once it presents you with the results, you can decide which files to get rid of. The app deletes the selected files quickly for you as well.

File types: You can choose to scan for files that have the same file name, a different file name but the same content, and varying degrees of the same content. This helps to identify older versions of the same file that may be slightly different but are also outdated. And the app will also identify files that don’t contain any data and are just taking up space.

CONS

Complicated interface: The interface isn’t terribly intuitive, which may pose a problem for less-experienced users. There is a good Help file to guide you through the process, however, and users with some computer savvy won’t have too much trouble finding their way around the app.

BOTTOM LINE

CloneSpy is a good free tool to take advantage of when you want to free up some space on your hard drive by removing all of the duplicate files that have accumulated over time. It works efficiently to find these files and delete them for you. With a little guidance from the Help file, even novice users will get the hang of things relatively quickly.
